How to Pack Your Laptop
- Where possible, use the original box your laptop came in. Wrap the box in brown paper or newspaper.
- If you have a laptop carry case, put your laptop in the case, then pack the case in a box, as described below.
- If you don't have the original box, use a box which is about 6" wider, deeper and taller than your laptop.
- Use bubble wrap to fill the bottom of the box, about 2" - 3" deep. If you don't have bubble wrap, scrunched up newspapers are the next best thing, but you will need a lot of newspapers, and it is very time consuming. The important thing is to make a 3" 'cushion' between ALL sides of the laptop and the box. This will protect it from any knocks that might occur during transport.
- Once you have made the lower 'cushion' of either bubble wrap or scrunched up newspapers, put the laptop in the box, then put more packing material all around the sides of the laptop, and then on top of it. Once you have almost filled the box, put the power adaptor on the top of the packing material, and add some more packing material on top of that. Please include only the mains adaptor itself, not the mains plug and lead (we will use our own mains lead, as plugs can sometimes damage the laptop if packed in the box with it.)
- If possible, include the battery. If you are sending your laptop for a software fault (virus removal, reinstallation of Windows, slow response from Windows, etc.) please include your system restore disc(s), or Windows disc(s). Without these discs, we cannot repair your software problems.
- You don't need to put an address label on the box, as our courier will apply his own barcoded address label to the box once it is back in the depot.
